Author: Marie Monsen Review Submitted by: KF
A companion read to The Heavenly Man. This is the story of Norwegian missionary to China, Marie Monsen. Miss Monsen was a missionary to the Hunan province in the 1930’s. She witnessed a great awakening among the foreign missionaries to China. Her account is straight forward and unembellished. The move of the Holy Spirit among the missionaries of the 1930’s was the precursor to the great revival of the underground church recorded in The Heavenly Man. In The Awakening you will find a description of biblical conversion, fellowship and prayer. |

Author: Paul Hattaway Review Submitted by: KF
This book will wake you up, shake you up, and cause you to re-evaluate what it means to follow Jesus. It is an account of Brother Yun’s life as a persecuted Christian in China from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. The events of this biography read like a modern day book of Acts. The persecuted Christians of China exemplify true faith, love and perseverance. The account makes no attempt to present Brother Yun as perfect, which makes his life testimony even more inspiring as the Lord Jesus works through a frail, imperfect human to display His power, love, provision and faithfulness.

Author: Dutch Sheets Review Submitted by: KF
The first pages of this book really caught my attention. Sheets verbalizes my own thoughts. He asks and investigates some tough questions.
- Is prayer really necessary? If so, why? Isn’t God sovereign? Doesn’t that mean He accomplishes what He wants, when He wants? If so, why pray?
- Is God’s will for a Christian automatically guaranteed or is it linked to prayer and other factors?

Author: Graham Cooke Book Review submitted by: KF
A new look at an ancient way of prayer. Pray like King David prayed. Pray like the bride, not a widow. Learn how to pray God’s will.
A very practical example is given in the book about when a friend is diagnosed with a brain tumor. His friends gathered together with the purpose of crafting a prayer for him and his situation. The step by step process of crafting a prayer is discussed.
The book is written with exercises and examples designed to teach how to know the will of God in a situation and write a prayer for that situation.
I highly recommend the book to people who want a more effective and deeper prayer life. It could be used by an individual, church or small group.
